1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Self Ride's self-drive car rental services in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. By booking a vehicle, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Self Ride operates as a self-drive rental service. All vehicles are provided for self-drive use only unless otherwise explicitly agreed in writing.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 21 years of age.
• You must hold a valid Indian driving licence for a minimum of 1 year.
• You must present a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, or Voter ID).
• Driving licence must be appropriate for the class of vehicle being rented.

3. Booking & Confirmation

Bookings are confirmed via WhatsApp. A booking is considered confirmed only after you receive an explicit confirmation message from the Self Ride team. Verbal or implied confirmations do not constitute a booking.

Self Ride reserves the right to reject any booking at its discretion without obligation to provide reasons.

4. Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit is required at the time of vehicle handover. The deposit amount varies by vehicle category and will be communicated during booking confirmation.

The deposit is refunded within 24 hours of vehicle return, subject to satisfactory inspection. Deductions may be made for damage, fuel shortfall, traffic violations, or late return charges.

5. Cancellation Policy

Bookings can be cancelled by notifying our team on WhatsApp. The refund schedule is as follows:

• Cancellation 24 hours or more before pickup: 100% refund of the booking amount.
• Cancellation between 12 and 24 hours before pickup: 50% refund.
• Cancellation less than 12 hours before pickup: No refund.

6. Fuel Policy

Vehicles are provided at a specified fuel level and must be returned at the same level. If returned with less fuel, the cost of the shortfall plus a refueling service charge will be deducted from the security deposit.

7. Late Return

A grace period of 60 minutes applies. Beyond the grace period, late return charges are applied at the vehicle's hourly rate. Returns delayed beyond 3 hours without prior notification may be charged at the full-day rate.

8. Liability & Insurance

All vehicles carry commercial insurance. Your liability for accidental damage depends on the insurance tier selected at booking:

• Standard: Covers third-party liability. You are responsible for damage to the rental vehicle.
• Zero Dep: Reduces your liability for most first-party damage types to zero, subject to policy terms.

Self Ride is not liable for loss of personal belongings left in the vehicle.

9. Prohibited Uses

• Driving under the influence of alcohol or substances.
• Subletting or lending the vehicle to a third party.
• Using the vehicle for commercial passenger transport or racing.
• Driving outside permitted geographic zones without prior approval.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Kolkata, West Bengal.
